About the Diving Certificate

Diving certificate examination

The diving certificate (health certificate for occupational diving) is required for occupational diving both inshore and offshore. It can only be issued by an approved diving doctor, and documents that you are medically fit for diving work in accordance with requirements from the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (inshore) and the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (offshore).

What does the examination include?

  • Comprehensive medical examination
  • Lung function test (spirometry)
  • ECG (first time, and every 5 years from age 40)
  • Chest X-ray (first time)
  • Audiometry (hearing test)
  • Vision and color vision test
  • Blood and urine samples
  • Assessment of pressure-related conditions

Accepted ID

You must bring valid identification to the examination. The following ID is accepted:

  • Passport
  • National ID card
  • Physical driver's license (not digital version)
  • Bank card with photo

Physical Fitness Requirements

Divers must document satisfactory physical performance. You can choose from several tests that must be signed by a personal trainer (PT) or physiotherapist. Download the physical performance test form here and bring the signed form to your consultation.

Validity

The health certificate is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. This applies to both inshore and offshore diving.

Self-Declaration

The self-declaration form can be filled out at our clinic or in advance.
