About the Sport Diving Certificate
A medical examination is required before starting a basic course in recreational diving. The certificate confirms that you are medically fit for sport and recreational diving, and can be issued by a doctor with a Norwegian license.
What does the examination include?
- General health examination
- Cardiovascular assessment
- Lung function test (spirometry)
- Urine test (dipstick)
- Ear, nose and throat examination
- Vision and hearing tests
- Assessment of fitness for underwater pressure conditions
Accepted ID
You must bring valid identification to the examination. The following ID is accepted:
- Passport
- National ID card
- Physical driver's license (not digital version)
- Bank card with photo
Self-Declaration
The self-declaration form can be filled out at our clinic or in advance.
Validity
The regulations do not set a fixed validity period for the health certificate. The medical examination is required before starting a basic course in recreational diving. Some diving schools and organizations have their own requirements, and a new assessment is recommended if your health changes.
